SNOWMOBILES

From the Board of Meridian Lake Park

Due to a number of complaints about snowmobiles to the Mt. Crested Butte Police Department, they have suggested we remind our members that it is illegal to ride snowmobiles on county roads. A ticket could carry a court appearance and a fine.

The Police are concerned about Washington Gulch Road and all roads inside Meridian Lake Park Filings 1, 2 and 3 as they are County owned and maintained.

The Meridian Lake covenants do not have any specific rules against riding snowmobiles, however, the Board is concerned about any activity that could present a hazard to its residents. High speed operation of any vehicle represents a danger to both the vehicle operator and other residents. Snowmobile operators should be aware that non-snowmobiling residents may not welcome additional vehicle noise or potential damage to property inside the park.

It would be a shame if a few members' inappropriate driving annoys or endangers other residents and ruins this fun wintertime activity for all of our snowmobile owners. Please take care on your snowmobiles and if you decide to run the gauntlet of impending daily police patrols, at least drive very slowly and not in the middle of the road or across private property within the subdivision or indeed on neighboring property.
