Recycling for Meridian Lake Park
The Board was requested to investigate the possibilities for recycling with Waste Management for Meridian Lake Park. The "rules and regulations" for their Curbside Recycling Program are numerous, plus everyone must purchase a set of three (3) plastic bins at the cost of $18 from the Town of Crested Butte.
The curbside recycling offered by Waste Management is once a month pickup costing $5/month or $60/year. All of the houses whether occupied full and part time would have to participate. The Board felt this alternative is far too expensive and unfair to part time residents.
The most practical option for every homeowner would be to visit the Gunnison County Recycle Center on 10th Street by the Airport and deposit their recycle. Directions: Head west on US 50. At the Airport sign turn left on Rio Grande. Turn right on 10th Street and proceed to the recycle center.
Containers must be rinsed but need not be crushed. This can be done at anytime of the day and there is no cost involved. Part-timers can give their recycle to a full time neighbor before they leave paradise for their other home. See you at the Gunnison Recycling Center.
